Terms of use

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms govern how you use the Family OS app. By downloading, signing in, or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. About us

Family OS is operated by [your name / company name], based in Copenhagen, Denmark ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at hello@familyos-app.com.

3. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a meaningful change, we'll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Family OS after a change means you accept the updated terms.

4. Who can use Family OS

To create a household and agree to these terms, you must be at least 18 years old. As the account holder, you can add other people to your household, including children. You are responsible for everyone in your household using the app appropriately, and for adding any child under 13 (or under the higher age of digital consent that applies in your country).

Children aged 13 and over (or the higher age in your country) can be given their own sign-in to manage their own profile within the household, but the household account holder remains the person responsible for the household's use of Family OS.

5. Your account and household

You're responsible for the information you put into your household and for keeping your sign-in details private. Let us know promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.

If you're the account holder, you're responsible for the data of children under 13 in your household — adding it, correcting it, and deleting it. This is covered in more detail in the Privacy & Data Use document.

6. Using the app properly

Please use Family OS lawfully and reasonably. In particular, you agree not to:

• use the app to break the law, harm others, or infringe anyone's rights;

• try to disrupt, hack, or overload the app;

• copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit the app; or

• scrape or extract data from the app, or use it to train or build machine-learning models.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive right to use Family OS on your devices. We can withdraw it if you break these terms.

7. Content you create

Some things you add — like custom category names or your own task labels — are content you create. You keep ownership of it. You give us permission to store, display, and process that content as needed to run and improve the app. You confirm it's yours to share and doesn't break the law or anyone's rights.

(Your personal and household data — names, tasks, times, completions — is handled under the separate Privacy & Data Use document, not this section.)

8. Family OS is not professional advice

Family OS helps your household see and share its workload. It offers gentle observations and estimates — not professional advice. It is not medical, psychological, legal, financial, or relationship advice, and shouldn't be relied on as a substitute for a qualified professional. Any "compared to other families" reflections are rough, depend on how tasks are defined, and are not judgements.

9. Availability and updates

We work to keep the app running well but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. The app may update automatically as part of normal operation.

10. App stores

You download Family OS through the Apple App Store or Google Play. These terms are between you and us — not the app store. The store operators aren't responsible for the app or for supporting it.

11. Your data

We handle personal data as described in our Privacy & Data Use document, in line with the GDPR. Please read it alongside these terms.

12. Our intellectual property

The Family OS app, its name, design, and content belong to us or our licensors. Using the app doesn't give you ownership of any of it.

13. Our responsibility to you

We provide Family OS with reasonable care, but it's offered "as is" for everyday household organising. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect losses or for problems outside our reasonable control.

14. Suspending or ending access

We can suspend or close an account that misuses the app or breaks these terms. You can stop using Family OS and delete your account at any time. If your account ends, your right to use the app ends with it; data deletion is handled per the Privacy & Data Use document.

15. Payments and subscriptions

Family OS is currently free. If we introduce paid features or subscriptions in future, we'll add the payment terms here and tell you before anything costs money. Purchases would be handled by the app stores (and/or a payment partner acting as merchant of record); we wouldn't store your card details.

16. General

If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. You can't transfer your rights under these terms to someone else; we may transfer ours, and we'll tell you if the law requires it.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, and disputes fall under the Danish courts. If you're a consumer in the EU, you keep the protections of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.
